English National Curriculum
Overview
The English National Curriculum Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) sets standards for the learning, development, and care of your child from birth to 5 years old. The areas of learning include: communication and language, physical development, personal, social, and emotional development, literacy, mathematics, understanding of the world & expressive arts, and design.
Our curriculum strives to ensure breadth and balance by using a variety of resources from various sources. The National Curriculum of England does not encourage or prescribe set textbooks. We plan topics carefully so continuity and progression are smooth and aid development. Topics enable us to identify skills, concepts, knowledge and ideas from individual subjects and bring them together in a cohesive way.
Following the National Curriculum in England, this is an opportunity for all students to refine the skills that will enable them to attain both academic and personal success. This is achieved through a dynamic and challenging curriculum with an emphasis on enquiry and creative problem solving through authentic tasks, and results in students who are not afraid to take risks and are prepared to fail in order to learn.
The beginning of the students’ IGCSE journey. IGCSEs are external exams taken at the end of Year 11, set and marked by independent, internationally-recognised bodies. Apart from the core subjects, students will be able to opt for certain subjects allowing them to pursue their passions and excel in the chosen areas of study.
This is the final part of the students’ learning journey, when they will sit AS and A Level examinations. These are the national academic qualifications of England; an enormously well-respected gateway to any of the top universities in the world. Even though examination challenge and rigour becomes increasingly visible at this time, it doesn’t mean that it replaces fun and exploration.
